My husband and I moved to Ada, Michigan in April 2016 after finding land and building. I was born and raised in West Michigan and Nate grew up in Washington, then relocated here for Calvin College. We quickly were drawn to the Ada community for a variety of reasons (listed below) and continue to live and work here. We are both amazed at how many of our clients are relocating to the area...more on that at a later date. So without further ado, here are my Top 10 reasons for loving Ada!
Here are the top 10 things that I love about Ada, Michigan:
1. Historic Downtown: Ada features a picturesque downtown area with historic buildings, quaint shops, and locally-owned restaurants, offering visitors a taste of small-town charm. Some of my favorite restaurants include Zeytin's, Luna, Nonna's, and Myrth. There will also be a brand new boutique hotel opening up later this year (hopefully).
2. Natural Beauty: The village is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, including rolling hills, wooded areas, and the Grand River, providing ample opportunities for outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and fishing.
3. Seidman Park: Seidman Park is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, featuring miles of scenic trails for hiking, running, and cross-country skiing, as well as picnic areas and wildlife viewing opportunities.
4. Thornapple River: The Thornapple River flows through Ada, offering residents and visitors the chance to enjoy recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding against a backdrop of beautiful scenery.
5. Ada Covered Bridge: One of the most iconic landmarks in Ada is the Ada Covered Bridge, which spans the Thornapple River. Built in 1867, it is one of Michigan's oldest covered bridges and serves as a popular spot for photography and sightseeing.
6. Community Events: Ada hosts various community events throughout the year, including festivals, farmers' markets, and concerts, providing opportunities for residents to come together and celebrate. Beers at the Bridge and the Pumpkin Prowl are some of my favorites.
7. Ada Township Park: Ada Township Park is a spacious recreational area featuring playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails, and a dog park, making it a favorite destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
8. Ada Farmers' Market: The Ada Farmers' Market showcases locally grown produce, artisanal goods, and handmade crafts, allowing visitors to support local farmers and artisans while enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere. You can visit the market on every Tuesday starting on June 4th.
9. Preservation of History: Ada takes pride in preserving its rich history, with efforts to maintain historic buildings and landmarks, ensuring that future generations can appreciate the village's heritage.
10. Close-Knit Community: One of the standout features of Ada is its close-knit community spirit, where residents value neighborly connections and actively participate in local initiatives and organizations to foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
